Engaging Ulama for Community Economic Empowerment

The Rifah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Rifah CCI), Goa successfully organised an Ulama Orientation Programme on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at Phoenix Hall, Chandwada, Margao, Goa, under the theme “Engaging Ulama for Community Economic Empowerment.”

The programme brought together more than 50 Ulama and community scholars from across Goa, creating an important platform for discussion on the role of Ulama in promoting economic awareness, entrepreneurship, financial development and community empowerment.

The programme commenced at 10:30 AM and continued until 4:30 PM, featuring a combination of Qur’anic reflection, keynote sessions, workshops, panel discussion and interactive sessions.

Inaugural Session

The programme began with Tazkeer bil Quran, delivered by Dr. Mohd. Aslam, Joint Secretary, Rifah, providing a spiritual and Qur’anic perspective on responsibility, effort, economic activity and the importance of contributing positively to society.

This was followed by the Inaugural Address by Maulana Razi Ahmed, who formally welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of bringing Ulama and the business community together for the economic and social development of the community.

Economic Vision for Ulama

Maulana Usman delivered a session on “Economic Vision for Ulama in Goa.” The session focused on the importance of developing greater economic understanding among Ulama and encouraging them to engage constructively with issues related to business, entrepreneurship, employment and community economic progress.

Workshop and Interactive Learning

A detailed 60-minute workshop was conducted by Janab S. Ameenul Hasan Sb, Chairman, Rifah. The workshop focused on practical aspects of community development and the role that organised efforts can play in creating sustainable economic opportunities.

One of the key highlights of the programme was the Panel Discussion on “Tijarat Mein Kamyabi” (Success in Business). The session was moderated by Anees Mohammed, with Maulana Abdus Sami, Maulana Muhammad Zakariya and Qari Jaseem Sb participating as panelists.

The discussion provided an opportunity to explore business success from ethical, practical and community-oriented perspectives and encouraged participants to consider entrepreneurship and economic activity as important avenues for community development.

Afternoon Workshop — Idea to Implementation

Following lunch and a break, Dr. Mohd. Aslam, Joint Secretary, Rifah, conducted a workshop titled “Idea to Implementation.”

The session focused on transforming ideas into practical initiatives. Participants were encouraged to think beyond ideas and consider the importance of planning, execution, teamwork, resources and consistent action in converting meaningful ideas into tangible outcomes.

The interactive nature of the session allowed participants to reflect on how the knowledge and influence of Ulama can be channelled towards constructive economic and social initiatives.

Open Session and Presidential Address

The programme subsequently moved into an Open Session, providing participants an opportunity for interaction, discussion and sharing of thoughts.

The programme concluded with the Presidential Address by Janab S. Ameenul Hasan Sb, Chairman, Rifah, followed by a Vote of Thanks by Anees Mohammed, appreciating the speakers, participating Ulama, organisers and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
